Caleb University

Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, has admitted a total of 1,900 fresh students for the 2020/2021 academic session, made up of 1,353 undergraduates, 216 Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board JUPEB students, 48 at Caleb Business School, and 283 at the College of Postgraduate Studies.

Speaking at the 14th matriculation ceremony of the university, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, who was represented by the deputy vice-chancellor, Prof Adedeji Daramola, enjoined the students to give priority attention to their studies, shun violence and malpractices.

“When you resumed as fresh students, every one of you had a score of 100 per cent. Whether you are still at that level or not is a question only you can answer. To remain on top, you must value Matthew 5: 48 which states, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father, which is in heaven is perfect,” the VC stated.

The vice-chancellor reminded that the institution’s mandate is to produce graduates worthy of knowledge and character for the global market in addition to carrying out societal-driven research and community service.

Owens-Ibie said the university is also committed to the security of lives and property of everyone on campus.

He said the university is fast growing in students’ population and infrastructural development, while all the courses and programmes being run are fully accredited by relevant government agencies.

He added that it is mandatory for every student, irrespective of course of study and level, to get information technology certification in areas directly relevant to their programmes before graduation.

The VC added that the institution had already adapted to blended classrooms, combining physical and virtual modes of teaching and learning.

He, however, commended the parents’ forum for their support and commitment to the growth and development of the university.

He disclosed that the forum donated the medical centre and a new bus for the ambulance service for the use of the university community.

Owens-Ibie said with the facility and other hospital equipment, those in need of medical attention are being attended to, while referrals are given when necessary.

SIMILARLY, Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (KSUSTA), has matriculated 1,974 students for the 2020/2021 academic session.
In a statement by the institution’s Director of Information, Hussein Zuru, out of 2,553 candidates that applied, only 1,974 secured admissions to the university.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bashar Aliero, congratulated the new students for securing admission into the university.

Aliero said: “I want to urge you to justify your stay in this institution by being serious with your studies. I also call on you to exhibit discipline, morality, and keep away from acts of indiscipline, immoralities, and social vices.”
The vice-chancellor assured the students that the university would do everything possible to provide a conducive learning environment for them to complete their studies.
He said the report reaching the university indicated that graduates of the institution working in different places are doing very well and are good ambassadors of the institution.
