Abraham Adegeye

Abraham Adegeye is a Nigerian-born fashion model, musician, and social media influencer, who is based in Vienna, Austria. He is known as Abrahamdailydosis by his over 60,000 followers on Instagram and has been a part of several campaigns featured on TV and other media.

To the handsome fashion influencer, challenges are part of any game, but giving up was never an option.

In this interview with Soltesh Iyere, he speaks about his aspirations, inspiring people with his sense of style and being a black guy trying to build up a career in a foreign country.

Tell us a bit about your background?
My name is Abraham Adegeye – Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. I was born on the 7th of April, 1996. My mum is from Ijebu and my dad is from Ondo State. My family left Nigeria 11 years ago. I now live with my family and siblings in Vienna, Austria.

Tell us about your journey across your different careers – music, modelling
I always loved fashion ever since I was a kid. My passion for modelling came along the line and I established myself more and more when I came over to Europe. I saw the opportunity and made use of it. Now, I work with various brands around the globe.

Now I decided to combine my modelling career with music because I think it’s a perfect fit since I love Afrobeats a lot and I would like to represent my country over here. I enjoy making music in my free time and I think since I have made myself a name in the entertainment/ fashion industry, why not combine it, that was my thought.

You have been in the entertainment industry for six years, how would you describe your struggle over the years?
At first, it was very difficult, especially as a black guy trying to build up something in a foreign country. Nevertheless, I did not let that bring me down, I held to my belief and kept going. Consistency, hard work, dedication, and God’s grace brought me here. Ups and downs are part of the game, but giving up was never an option.

Which one do you feel more comfortable with, music or modelling?
Since I started my career in modelling and fashion, I would say I feel more comfortable with it, through the experience I gained over the years. I am still new to the music game, but I think with time I will grow into it more and become hopefully better.Do you have any recent projects out, what’s the project all about?
Working on releasing more music and also planning to bring out my own brand soon. All step by step, and I know nothing is impossible with the right mindset. I am also planning to create something in my hometown Nigeria, which helps other people and artists as well. My goal at the moment is to get bigger and establish myself more in the music industry as well.

When did you decide to become a musician?
Music was something I have always wanted to do. But I had to wait for the right timing to kick off. So I would say I became a “musician” not long ago – approximately 6 months ago.

How do you combine music and modelling?
I listen to a lot of music daily, and I try to implement that in my daily modelling jobs.

The modelling industry both home and abroad is more saturated now. How are you coping to stay relevant?
Yeah, it’s saturated, but it’s more about your unique selling proposition and how you stand out. Being an African here makes me stand out more and since I have been in the game for quite some years, I was able to make my way through my personality and the work I put out there.

Who influences you in the fashion industry?
It all depends, but stars like Kanye, Travis Scott, Wizkid, Burna Boy and so many more.

What do you think the future holds for the Nigerian modelling industry?
I think we have a long way to go, but we will definitely take over sooner or later.

What was your parents’ reaction to your decision to go into entertainment and fashion?
They weren’t very amused at the beginning. But with time they saw that I really had a passion for it. It took time for them to accept, but with success along they then knew it’s something that has potential. When you were younger, what did you dream of becoming in the future?
When I was young, my actual plan was to become a banker. But with time my interest changed, and I decided to go for what I love, and here I am today.

So, if I am not doing music or modelling, I would probably be working at the bank somewhere. But music and modelling are my passion, so I will stick to them..
